Use real feathers to make a fun wig.
Create feathered wigs that can be worn for Halloween, to parties or by actors when they is finished. Use a cheap wig, found at discount stores, as a base for the feather wig. Real feathers are preferable to synthetic ones because they are softer and don't fall apart like fake ones. Design the feathered wigs in nearly any color or multiple colors. Adorn your wig with any hairstyle you desire, including ones that represent long hair, short shaggy hair or even shaped to look like a bird's face.
Instructions
1. Turn the glue gun on, add glue sticks and let the device heat up for about five minutes.
2. Set the wig on the Styrofoam head form. Cut the hair off the wig so that all that is left is half an inch of hair on each weft, or row.
3. Glue the longer feathers along the bottom of the hair one at a time. Put a dab of hot glue onto the end of the feather. Stick the feather to the hair along the bottom weft on the wig. Add more of the longer feathers on the second and third wefts, depending on how long you want the finished wig hair. Each feather should overlap the previous row to hide the glue and feather end. Repeat the process until you have the desired fullness and shape.
4. Add the shorter feathers above the initial rows and on the sides. Continue to overlap the feathers and shape them for the desired effect. Add short feathers in the front as bangs. Allow the glue to cool completely before using the wig.
