Create A House Less Dusty

A dusty house makes rooms look unclean, and excessive dust may irritate people with respiratory issues such as asthma. Some people also have dust allergies. Dust settles on almost all items in the home, including clothing, furniture and carpets. Dust can never be completely eliminated, but you can make your house less dusty by cleaning it regularly.

Instructions

1. Dust your house regularly. Select a day of the week to dust, and stick to the schedule to prevent dust from building up throughout the house.

2. Select a room to start dusting. Work your way around the house from this room. Always dust from the top down to prevent spreading dust onto areas you already cleaned.

3. Vacuum the carpets and rugs with a HEPA filter to remove dust. Vacuum the floors with the proper carpet setting on your vacuum cleaner to allow the brush to remove the dust successfully.

4. Wash bed sheets, comforters, curtains, and blankets during your weekly dusting routine. Wash the bedding in hot water if possible. Always follow the cleaning instructions on the care tags for best results. Vacuum the mattresses, upholstery, and pillows with an upholstery attachment.

5. Store items you do not use, such as clothing and sheets, in plastic containers or sealed storage bags. Leaving these items sitting out allows dust to collect on them.

6. Focus on the electronics in your home. Electronic devices such as televisions, stereos, and computers often attract dust. Wipe the electronics with a microfiber cloth.

7. Turn on an air conditioner or heater in your home to help remove dust particles. Air conditioners with a filter can help remove irritating dust.
