A Quicker Method To Make Origami Roses

Try folding the tissue paper rose from tissue papers of many different colors.

There are many ways to make origami roses. Many origami roses closely resemble a real rose, but most of these are complicated, with many folds, and can be a challenge to make. However, the origami tissue-paper rose is much simpler to make. It looks like a real rose, so you don't lose the beauty of the project with the simpler folding pattern. Because it also has a stem, this origami rose can be displayed in a vase, or used as a simple decoration.

Instructions

1. Lay a square piece of tissue flat in front of you. Regular tissue paper works fine, but a fully opened tissue napkin also works nicely, and it is also convenient.

2. Fold the left edge of the napkin in toward the center. Fold this edge about 1 inch.

3. Fold the bottom edge of the napkin up toward the center of the tissue. Fold about 1 inch of the bottom edge. As you do this, you will fold up part of the left edge, which you previously folded in, as well.

4. Roll the napkin up, starting at the bottom. To get the correct roll size, it helps if you place two fingers against the bottom left edge of the napkin, and roll the napkin around them. Use the thumb of your left hand to hold the edges in place, by placing the thumb on the reverse side of the tissue. Use your right hand to roll the paper around your fingers.

5. Rotate the rolled tissue, so that what was the left edge is now the top of the roll.

6. Pinch the tissue about two inches from the top. Leave the top two inches loosely rolled, while you twist the tissue. Start twisting just ending the pinch you made. Twist tightly in one direction to create the stem.

7. Stop twisting about half way down the tissue.

8. Grasp the top layer of tissue at the bottom of the roll. Pull this up, tugging the corner of the tissue layer so that is sticks up and out. This is the leaf.

9. Continue twisting the paper, starting just below the leaf. Don't twist the part of the leaf that sticks out. Keep twisting until you get all the way to the bottom of the stem.

10. Pull the outside layer of tissue at the top of the paper. You can turn or roll them outward to create petals. The inner layers can also be fluffed or separated to make the rose look more realistic. Be gentle as you create the rose shape that looks the best to you.
