Easton St Axis 400 Apg Specifications

The Axis ST 400 APG is a hunting arrow.

Easton manufactures bows, arrows, crossbows and bolts for hunting and target shooting. The Axis line of arrows is a carbon hunting arrow created with carbon nanotubes, consisting of very thin but durable layers of carbon formed into tubes to increase its strength over conventional carbon arrows. The ST Axis is available in different lengths and with different exterior patterns and markings.

Composition

Easton Axis ST arrow shafts are composed of a fusion of carbon nanotubes and a nanoepoxy. The nanotube and nanoepoxy combination create a durable arrow. Easton also uses what it calls "Slim-tech" technology to give the Axis ST arrow a smaller diameter shaft with thicker walls than typically seen in carbon arrows. Bow and Arrow Magazine described the Axis ST arrow as having an "armor-like toughness."

Stiffness

The use of the number 400 indicates the spine deflection of the Axis ST arrow. Spine deflection is a measure of the stiffness of an arrow. The Axis ST is available with spine deflections of 300, 340, 400 and 500, with 300 representing the stiffest arrow and 500 representing the most flexible. Some archers prefer arrows of particular stiffness to match a bow's characteristics.

Camouflage

Bow hunters can wear camouflage on their clothes and their arrows.

Hunters may prefer a camouflaged arrow in the field. APG stands for "All Purpose Green" and is a trademarked camouflage pattern on the Easton ST Axis 400 APG arrow. The trademarked pattern is used through collaboration with another company, since Easton does not own the trademark. But the same APG pattern is used on other hunting accessories, including clothes.

Review

Bow and Arrow magazine editor, Joe Bell, tested the arrow and wrote a review entitled "Bowhunter's Dream Arrow." He wrote that the Easton ST Axis 400 had greater strength, faster arrow speed and deeper penetration than most arrows he has used.
