Make Use Of A Razor To Layer Hair Rather Than Scissors

By using a razor to layer hair, you can add a little pizazz to a hairstyle. This process is similar to that which is used when layering hair with scissors. However, you must be cautious when layering hair with a razor. Without knowing the proper techniques, you could easily remove too much hair, leaving the person with noticeable gaps in her hairstyle.

Instructions

1. Dampen the hair evenly. It is important to razor hair when it is wet. On wet hair, the blade will glide down each strand. Using a blade on dry hair will pull and break the hair.

2. Comb the hair from root to tip, just as you would if you were layering hair with scissors.

3. Section the hair in the same way that you would if you were layering your hair with scissors. Comb a 1-inch section of hair at a time away from the head. The angle that you hold the section on will depend on the final look that you are trying to achieve. The higher the angle, the more hair you will remove. Work with 1'-inch sections of hair around the entire head in order to achieve the desired look.

4. Hold the section in between your pointer and middle finger and use the entire blade of the razor in a quick up-and-down motion to remove the hair on the ends. The blade of the razor should be making contact with the hair the entire time you are performing the up and down motion.

5. Add additional layers and movement to the hair by taking the tip of the blade and pointing it into the section and about the halfway point of that particular section. Move the tip of the blade up and down to remove more hair.

6. Continue to work throughout the head in 1-inch sections, constantly observing the style in the mirror. Layering hair with a razor instead of scissors is more of a visual process.
