The mention of the word "showgirl" will, for most people, conjure up an image of a pretty lady in a glittery costume. One of the main components of the classic showgirl outfit is a glamorous feather headdress, which accentuates her movements and adds to the overall exotic look. If you need a showgirl headdress for Halloween, a costume party, or a play, you can make one with some unusual materials.
Instructions
1. Place the tennis visor on the mannequin head so that the bill is pointing up and toward you; this will form the base of your headdress. Mark the basic elements of your desired design on the bill using the chalk. Remove the hat from the mannequin and place on your work surface.
2. Glue the strip of lace across the hat band to mask the look of the visor. Using your sequins, beads, and glitter, glue the trim over your chalk lines to create your pattern. Remember, the goal is to be over-the-top sparkly, so more is more!
3. Turn the hat over and glue the feathers vertically to the back of the bill, creating a large feather fan. Aim for as much overlap as possible; you want a fluffy and full effect with minimal space showing through. Check the headdress for any loose beads or feathers, and add extra glue if necessary.
